In many ways, online poker is not the same game as poker played at a table. For one thing, online poker moves a lot more quickly. A table at a poker room may go through 10 to 15 hands in an hour. But in online poker, the rate is closer to 40 or more hands an hour! That is because in online poker, you do not have to wait for the dealer to shuffle the cards, count the chips, or any of a number of small things that software does automatically in milliseconds. You can indeed miss a lot if you are temporarily distracted while playing a game of online poker.
Because online poker is so fast, it is prominent to stay alert. There is not much waiting between turns, and there is a set time limit in which to act, so you have to be ready to make a move, or the software will assign a play decision to you, one that you might not like. In many online poker sites, you can determine on a move before it is your turn to act, although the software does not embark on your move until it is indeed your turn. Because of such automation, some hands can go by a near blistering speed.
Games
Another disagreement in online poker is that you cannot see your opponents, so you cannot read their body language for "tells" about their cards and strategy. Your opponents may furnish tells, however, in their style and patterns of play. However, it takes a skilled and experienced player to read such types of tells, and you need to play against the other for a while first.
One thing many citizen do when playing online poker is to play more than one game at a time. This is only worthwhile for advanced players, as novices will find it too distracting to keep more than one game's strategy in mind at a time, and will probably end up doing badly at all the games. Some players claim they play as many as 10 games at the same time, but it is doubtful than whatever can make good money that way. Even the best online poker players would be hard-pressed to keep track of so many games at once. Experienced players can probably cope 2 to 4 games at the same time, but no more than that. I am very skeptical of this approach; I think it is far more sufficient to play just one game but to play it with all your skill and concentration.
