Batman: Arkham City Overview

Arkham City is an open world action video game that incorporates elements of stealth and predator tactics. All of the gadgets previously obtained in the first game are present at the start of Arkham City (with the exception of the Ultra Batclaw, which is replaced with the regular Batclaw and Sonic Batarangs). Most of them have improved or new capabilities; for example, the Cryptographic Sequencer can also track signals, the line launcher now has a feature that allows Batman to flip over and launch another zipline perpendicularly across, switching directions, the remote control Batarang now has a built in brake and boost, and the grappling gun can now be used while gliding to boost Batman further up into the air. Four additional gadgets have been revealed: smoke pellets to confuse armed enemies when spotted by them, the Remote Electrical Charge which is a sniper-like taser gun used to power generators and shock enemies, ice grenades used to freeze enemies and make pathways through water, and a balled rope for tying up enemies. The game incorporates more puzzle elements; the use of Batman's "Detective Mode", which highlights elements such as enemy skeletons and clues on-screen, is used to perform forensic activities such as tracing the origin of a sniper round.

Batman: Arkham City Specifications

Batman: Arkham City is third-person Action-Adventure game that delivers an authentic Dark Knight experience rooted in an original and engrossing story as well as a combination of melee combat, stealth, investigative and speed-based challenge gameplay. A sequel to 2009's Batman: Arkham Asylum, Arkham City features the full range of classic enemies seen in the previous game, in addition to Catwoman, who is a playable character and has her own storyline in the new release. Additional features include: a range of new gadgets, an increased number of possible melee opponents and a range of movement options for Batman that include leaping, sliding, gliding and the grapple hook.

Games - Should Kids Play War Games?

If you grew up in the early to late 60s you remember watching Vic Morrow in the great series Combat. You were so taken by the his operation that if you were a normal kid, you wanted to be Sergeant Saunders. And you got the chance to do it too. The toy market were stocked to the rafters with Saunders trademarked camouflaged helmet, Thompson Sub engine Gun and hand grenades. The gun had a pull back knob that was quite realistic and the gun made quite a racket when it was shot. The grenades were adequate with the old style cap explosives that also made quite a bang when the grenade hit the ground correctly.

Taking your equipment, you and your friends made off for the nearest woods or mazed area. You took turns hunting each other down. Because nobody no ifs ands or buts got shot, you were pretty much on the honor law when man snuck up behind you, started shooting and said, "you're dead". You were all the time tempted to say, "I'm just wounded" and walk off to the aid middle point for a brief timeout until you were "healed" and ready to get back in the game. Nobody no ifs ands or buts died and the games went on forever until you plainly got tired of playing or your mum called you in for dinner. It was all pretty unobjectionable fun.

Games

But, it's 40 years later and parents are wondering if they should let their kids play war games. They're afraid that if their kids play with guns they will grow up to play with real guns. We have become so politically strict that it has gotten to the point where you can't even find guns in a toy store anymore. Those days are long gone. So if a kid wants to play army, he best have a very good imagination.

The request is, is this right? no ifs ands or buts not every kid who played with guns grew up to become a killer. An connect of mine had not only a Saunders Tommy Gun, but also a German Luger, an M1 rifle, a Colt 45 and quite a few hand grenades. He says he had to have several when attacking those German bunkers. Today, this kid who lived to play army, is a thriving Internet marketer and has never held a real gun a day in his life.

The truth is, it doesn't take a toy gun to turn a kid bad. If somebody is destined to turn to a life of crime, he's going to do it with or without having played with toy guns. So the request of either or not kids should be allowed to play war games is one that has to be answered by each private parent. Parents should make informed decisions about all things they allow or don't allow their children to do. There is an old saying that says guns don't kill, population kill. That was true in the 1960s and it is true today as well.

Certainly toy guns don't kill anybody.

Halloween Word Games - Educational Halloween Games for School

Halloween word games are a great way to get kids playing with words and learning while they have lots of fun. The games are ideal for school but can also be used at home. There are many original word games that can be turned into a Halloween game naturally by using Halloween words.

Here are a few games to get you started. If you are stuck for words to use in your Halloween word games you might like to use this list of words to help you - broom, ghost, treat, magic, candy, witch, scary, spooky, mummy, potion, coffin, spider, creepy, scream, monster, cauldron, vampire, costume, pumpkin, haunted, skeleton, Frankenstein, Dracula.

Games

Boo
This Halloween game is certainly a version of a spelling bee but it is fast paced and contains an element of opening so even the best speller may be the one that gets out first. The instructor needs a list of Halloween related words for the children to spell. You will probably only need 10 - 1 5 words. The children stand in a circle. The instructor chooses someone to start and gives the word to be spelled. The first someone says the first letter, the someone to their left says the next letter and so on until the word is spelled. The next someone says 'Boo' to indicate that the word is concluded and the someone after this is out and sits down. If a mistake is made the someone also has to sit down. The game continues with the next word. The winner is the last someone left standing. This is a game that kids love to play. You'll find that they will want to play again and again.

Sppoky Word Find
If you are finding for Halloween Word games that don't require any preparation, this is an ideal one for you. Children are given a word related to Halloween, preferably a long one like Halloween, Frankenstein or Skeleton. They then have to find as many words as they can that have the letters from this word. Each letter from the word can only be used once unless it appears more than one in the original word. From the word Halloween, children could make hall, we, well, wheel etc. Give the children a time limit and see who can come up with the longest list after time is up. This is also a good Halloween party game if you are finding for something to decree down excited children. It is also one the of easiest Halloween word games to prepare.

Word Chain
This game is a similar game to the one above but this time children are given a chain of Halloween words joined end to end. The word chain might have ten different Halloween words joined together. It could look like this - Halloweenbatswitchspookymonstershaunted etc. Children now have to find all of the words that they can in this chain of words. This time the order of the letters can't be changed and word must exist in the chain already. The Halloween words will be most inescapable but there will be other words secret in the list as well. See who can find the longest list of words in the given time frame. This is one of the Halloween word games that is a great way to occupy kids who quit work early in class.

Halloween Word crusade
A word crusade is a straightforward word game to generate for Halloween. You can draw one up on paper or generate one on the computer. Just draw a table and make a list of Halloween words. The words are then written into the table with each letter in a separate square. When all of the words that you want to use have been written in, fill in the blank squares with extra letters. Your Halloween word crusade is now ready to use.

These Halloween word games are just a few of the many different games that can be used in the classroom or at home. The best part is that these educational Halloween games are just lots of fun, they are certainly games where kids can be learning at the same time.
