Learn to Play Casino Craps - The Buy Bet

Be smart, play smart, learn how to play casino craps the right way!

All aspects of the Buy bet are the same as the Place bet except: 1) A Buy bet pays off at true odds, 2) You have to pay a tax, or a vigorish, to get the true odds, and 3) A Buy bet is positioned on the layout differently. everything else about the Buy bet is the same as the Place bet.

Games

The casino is in business to make money, so they're not going to give you true odds for nothing (except, of course, the free true Odds bet that you can add to your Pass Line bet--they're "free" because you don't have to pay a vigorish). So, how does the casino make money if they pay off a Buy bet at true odds (i.e., true odds means there's no built-in house advantage)? Ready to get screwed again? They tax you! You believe that? A tax! You have to pay for the privilege of getting true odds. This tax is called a "vigorish" or "vig."

John Winn is the father of contemporary craps. His version of the game allowed gambling halls to offer more player-friendly bets in return for a 5% charge. The worst the gambling halls could do was break even on true odds bets, but they still made money because of the added 5% tax. The added fee brought in so much money that they soon referred to it as giving vigor to their profits; hence, the term "vigorish." The vig today remains at 5%.

Buy bets on the 4 and 10 are always best than Placing the 4 and 10. Buy bets on the 5 and 9 may be best than Placing the 5 and 9, depending on when you pay the vig. However, Place bets on the 6 and 8 are always best than Buying the 6 and 8.

What makes the Buy bet on the 4 and 10 best than a Place bet on the 4 and 10? Suppose you make a Place bet on the 4

where the Place odds are 9:5, which means you win for your bet ( divided by 5 = , multiplied by 9 = ). Now, instead of a Place bet, suppose you make a Buy bet and pay a vig for the privilege of getting true odds, which are 2:1. For a Buy bet on the 4, you win but have to pay the vig, which results in a net payoff of . Comparing results of the two bets, the winning Place bet nets you ; whereas, the winning Buy bet nets you .

The Buy bet gets best as your bet amount increases. For example, suppose you make a Place bet on the 10, which means you win for your bet (Place odds are 9:5). Now, suppose you make a Buy bet and pay a vig for the privilege of getting true odds, which are 2:1. For a Buy bet on the 10, you win but have to pay the vig, which results in a net payoff of . Comparing results of the two bets, the winning Place bet nets you ; whereas, the winning Buy bet nets you .

Notice in the example for the Buy bet that the vig is only . The 5% vig for a Buy bet no ifs ands or buts works out to be .25, but the casino typically doesn't have chips valued at less than , so the vig is rounded down. Generally, vigs with a fraction of 50 cents or less are rounded down, while vigs with a fraction greater than 50 cents are rounded up. Therefore, for example, a Buy bet has only a vig even though 5% of is .50. But some casinos won't let you get away with too much of their profit. Suppose you make two isolate Buy bets at the same time (e.g., you drop 0 in the Come box and tell the dealer, "Buy the four and ten for fifty dollars each.") Instead of rounding down the vig for each bet and charging a total vig of (i.e., for each bet), the casino may fee you the full vig (i.e., .50 for each Buy bet).

Most casinos don't fee the vig until after you win the bet. However, some casinos require you to pay the vig up front at the time you make the bet. For example, for a Buy bet on the 4 with an up-front vig, you must put down when you make the bet (i.e., for your bet and for the vig). If the shooter rolls a 7, you lose . However, to attract customers, most casinos require the vig after you win the bet. For example, for a Buy bet on the 4 with an after-win vig, you put down only the . Then, if you win, the dealer pays you (i.e., for the win minus for the vig). Paying the vig after a win lowers the house advantage, which makes the Buy bet even better.

My contact is that, if a player has a choice of casinos to play, then vigs are generally paid after a win. If a casino is the only game in town, then vigs are generally paid up front. The guess is simple--competition. If you have a choice of casinos, you can walk out and go to the casino next door. However, if the casino is the only game in town, they have you by the balls, so they can get away with charging the vig up front. Their religious doctrine is, "If you don't like it, don't play--but we know you'll play even if you don't like it."

To make a Buy bet, drop your chips in the Come box and tell the dealer the amount you want to buy. The dealer then moves your chips to the point box in a position that corresponds to your table position (in a manner similar to Place bets) and puts a Buy button on top. The button tells the boxman and camera that you're Buying the amount instead of Placing it.

To help the new player, some dealers automatically Buy the bet instead of Placing it when it's to the player's advantage. For example, suppose the guy next to you makes a Place bet on the 10. Being the observant player that you are, you notice the dealer move the chip into the 10 point box and put a Buy button on it. The guy next to you doesn't have a clue that the dealer potentially made him an extra if the bet wins (i.e., a winning Buy bet nets ; whereas, a winning Place bet nets only ).

The Buy bet is best made on the 4 or 10. However, it can also be advantageous for the 5 and 9 if the casino allows paying the vig after a win instead of up front. For example, suppose you make a Place bet on the 5 where the Place odds are 7:5, which means you win for your bet ( divided by 5 = , multiplied by 7 = ). Now, instead of a Place bet, suppose you make a Buy bet and pay a vig for the privilege of getting true odds, which are 3:2. For a Buy bet on the 5, you win ( divided by 2 = , multiplied by 3 = ), but you have to pay the vig, which results in a net payoff of . Comparing results of the two bets, the winning Place bet nets you ; whereas, the winning Buy bet nets you . If the casino requires an up-front vig, Placing the 5 or 9 is best than Buying them because the house advantage is lower (i.e., 4.00% for Placing the 5 or 9 versus 4.76% for Buying them with an up-front vig).

The Buy bet isn't smart for the 6 and 8. You should always Place the 6 and 8 instead of Buying them. Let's do the math. As we know, Place bets on the 6 or 8 must be in multiples of to get the full Place odds of 7:6; and Buy bets on the 6 or 8 must be in multiples of to get the full true odds. Therefore, suppose you make a Place bet on the 6 and win, which means you win 2 ( divided by 6 = , multiplied by 7 = 2). Now, instead of a Place bet, suppose you make a Buy bet and, when you win, pay a vig for the privilege of getting true odds. For a Buy bet on the 6, you win 4 ( divided by 5 = , multiplied by 6 = 4), but you have to pay the vig, which results in a net payoff of 9. Comparing results of the two bets, the winning Place bet nets you 2; whereas, the winning Buy bet nets you 9. So, for the 6 and 8, a Place bet is best than a Buy bet. The house advantage for Place bets on the 6 and 8 is lower than Buy bets on the 6 and 8, regardless of whether you pay the vig up front or after a win.

Now you know! Remember, learn how to play casino craps the right way.

Xbox 360 Games - A every year impart of 2008 - The Casual Gamer

A Heart for the peaceful Gamer

The Xbox360 has all the time had an open mind fort he Hardcore-Gamer, but there has been a new targeted audience in the bull's eye of the developers and publishers of games: The casual gamer. And we all know that playing Non Shooter Games and Non Violent Games can be a lot of fun, also. In this very field a nice form of Franchise has been noticed. It started with Lego Star Wars and continued with Lego Batman and Lego Indiana Jones. The latter has been especially appreciated by gamers, a well established gamers society ranked the guy with the leather jacked and the wip on place 3. Jump 'n Run of it's finest kind. But the first two ranks are taken by two of the Musicgames Genres , from which we have seen quite a few lately. It started with the plastic guitar controller, and Guitar Hero scored real well. But that wasn't the end. Rock Band started to enjoy the masses, now guitars, mikes and drum sets wanted to be played, as well. Activision followed suit in Guitar Hero: World Tour and this games secured the second place. King of the genres became Rock Band by Electronic Arts, who followed with a sequel in 2008 with

Games

Rock Band 2 Level up your Life

Epic and well done Role Games are still a scarcity on the Ms-Console. But these games are on the go and a few gems have made their way into the Xbox 360 shelves in 2008. Especially when with regard to Japano-Role games. Probably the most loved game within the Asian genre was Lost Odyssey, an epic fairy tale about the immortal hero Kaim, on a quest to his long lost memories, thus taking rank 3. It covers a total of four (!) Dvds and runs exclusively on the Xbox 360.

The Games-Tale Teller Peter Molyneux has presented one of his very recommended (by him, that is...) Games. Again exclusively for the Xbox 360 we got the sequel of the notable Xbox-Game Fable. A fairy tale story and with somewhat irritating Sims-Elements are what this game is all about. The fans loved it nevertheless and its not of course a bad game, too. Rank 2 for Fable 2.

All the way up to number one shot a extra title, being number one contestant fort he game of the year: Fallout 3. The adventures of the little Vault-inhabitant, right over the post apocalyptic wastelands of Washington D.C. Has made a lot of fans at the end of the year.

Sports Games in 2008

Now where would the Games World be without great Sports Games? In this genre there were a lot of very good titles we could not include in our little ranking. Position 3 is shared by two games. First of the third round of Top Spin, loved by tennis fans. That also goes for all the American Football Fans with Madden Nfl 09, which came over with more innovations in 2008. In Europe, the first two positions went to: 2. Rank: Pro Evolution Soccer 2009 and Nhl 09 / Nhl 2K9.The winner, with 79% of the votes. Was: Fifa 09. But other games of separate sports made their appearance in 2008, like Nba Live 09 and Nba 2K9. Even golfers got their share of very good games with Tiger Woods Pga Tour Golf 09.

Lets look at the "Racers". Not only the motor sport simulations but arcade-like "pedal to the metal" games went big time last year. These Fun Racers are the most liked ones. Back in 2007 Colin McRae: Dirt went into the charts and did real well. Followed in 2008 by the same team, Race Driver Grid, impressed its fans. Very cool street racings with a hot illustrated helped this game to score number 3. A small but very nice game surprised the Xbox 360 Community: Pure. Speeding through the boonies with a Quad, spectacular and acrobatic-tricks with monster-jumps! Pure fun for just about whatever and therefore position 3 in the Racer category. And also in the "Surprises of the Year"!

But there's no end in sight. Developer Criterion has made an impact with the Burnout - series years ago. Part 4 of the series hit the ground running, just like: Burnout Paradise. The blend of "Open Reality", fabulous speed with reckless jumps and a lot of fender benders still holds it's fans. Maybe an additional one reason is the free updates with worthwhile goodies that are delivered on a timely basis. So, the number one position goes to the Racer-Town "Paradise City".

Should Kitesurfing Be Included At The 2016 Olympic Games?

In 2009 the International Olympic Committee at its Copenhagen discussion declared that "the Olympics movement must strive to extend its remit and to growth its influence with young habitancy across the world." I for one cannot think of a best way of achieving this goal than by including Kitesurfing at the 2016 Olympic Games. There is no other sailing class in the world (and few sports) that have such a high division of participants under 30. Added to the fact that kitesurfing is currently the hot thing in water sports and its inclusion in the Olympics would bring a huge element of 'cool' to the sailing class which is currently seen as a boring and exclusive, for old farts and Hooray Henry's only.

Windsurfing in the Olympics currently struggles due to the fact that the sailing events are held in venues where light winds are the preference as dinghy's etc only admittedly need a force 2 - 3 for optimum competition. Kitesurfing would not suffer from this drawback as modern kitesurfing tool means that 6 knots is enough to not only ride but to ride upwind. It also offers a huge draw to the worlds media, with 100's of brightly coloured kites jostling right next to the beach not to mention some truly spectacular wipe outs and all in all you have an event that could capture the imagination of everyone from 6 to 60 years old.

Games

Richard Branson an legal Kitesurfing Olympic Ambassador and keen kitesurfer is quoted as saying,

"Kiteboarding is a fun and spectacular sport that I think would make a tremendously appealing addition to the Olympic Games"

The 2016 Olympics will be held in Rio de Janeiro with the Olympic sailing Regatta having chosen Copacabana beach as its customary location. I for one cannot dream a best location to showcase kitesurfing and its status as a new Olympic Sport.

So whats your take? Should Kitesurfing be allowed into the Olympics?

Should Kitesurfing Be Included At The 2016 Olympic Games?
